En résidence de recherche et de création à la Maison forte de Hautetour au printemps 2023, Charlotte Gautier van Tour s’est interrogée sur l’histoire aquatique du massif des Alpes, de son origine sous les eaux à son actuelle fonte, pour en déduire un futur hypothétique. S’intéressant au phénomène des microalgues qui prolifèrent en haute altitude et colorent la neige en rouge, Charlotte Gautier van Tour a ainsi poursuivi à Saint-Gervais, avec son projet Bloom, ses recherches et ses questionnements autour des écosystèmes, des phénomènes et des mémoires liés à l’eau afin d’interroger l’avenir des Alpes. L’exposition Bloom présentée à la Maison forte de Hautetour jusqu’au 17 septembre 2023 restitue ses recherches et pose un nouveau regard sur la vie aquatique en haute-montagne.

During her research and creative residency at the Maison forte de Hautetour in the spring of 2023, Charlotte Gautier van Tour examined the aquatic history of the Alps, from its underwater origins to its current melting, in order to deduce a hypothetical future. Taking an interest in the phenomenon of microalgae that proliferate at high altitude and colour the snow red, Charlotte Gautier van Tour’s Bloom project at Saint-Gervais is a continuation of her research and questioning of ecosystems, phenomena and memories linked to water, with a view to considering the future of the Alps. The Bloom exhibition, on display at the Maison forte de Hautetour until September 17th, 2023, gives an account of her research and takes a fresh look at aquatic life in the high mountains.
