Babeth Rambault
La journée continue
Musée Calbet, Grisolles
What do a series of photographs of hedges taken in residential areas of individual houses, fake coins made of Zamak with obscure but prophetic messages and a large mattress looking like a plinth, thick and straight as a monolith, have in common? A pronounced taste for acerbic observation of our contemporaries; a sharp sense for twisted expressions that wring the neck of ready-made concepts, an attraction for throwing things together, small businesses and lost causes; and the urge to say out loud that the mess still, and against all maxims, belongs to those who get up late… Babeth Rambault’s apparently quirky universe is very much the glove turned inside out of our little orderly world, presenting us with the overall structural incongruity of our pretty society… In the meantime, the all day non-stop goes on… Yvan Poulain
