The community gallery Atelier Archipel in Arles has been engaged in a major collaboration with the American artist Richard Nonas since 2009. The first exhibition, organised in May 2009, provided an occasion for creating a partnership between the county estate of the Château d’Avignon, the Gassendi museum, the Cairn Centre for Contemporary Art in Digne-les-Bains. Two permanent pieces were produced during this partnership: Fog (2010), at the Château d’Avignon, and Edge Stones: Vière et les moyennes montagnes (2012), as well as a book, Fieldwork, published by Analogues. In 2013, the Atelier Archipel teamed up with Vidéochroniques in Marseille to organise two parallel exhibitions, therefore marking a step further in Richard Nonas’ work in the region. Other projects are in preparation in Arles, in the Alpilles and in the Alpes de Haute Provence.
