Semaine 39.13

Pierre Bendine-Boucar
Rock a stack
Chapelle du Quartier Haut, Sète

A Maurist convent and later a technical college, the imposing eighteenth-century Chapelle du Quartier Haut today belongs to the City of Sète. It has recently been renovated to host contemporary art exhibitions. Pierre Bendine-Boucar has installed a series of painted works here, most of which are on paper. Drawings, traces, the remnants of work and canvases are grouped around several fields of reference and the themes that run through the artist’s production: Fantomas, Colored Tapes, How to Escape, Colorama Flowers and the Eastpack Project. These collections have been produced over the last three years and are brought together under the generic title, Rock a Stack. The exhibition presents a new catalogue of work in which the handling of colour remains a primary concern.
