The new series of photographs by Lucja Ramotowski- Brunet continues her investigation of the human enigma. What a strange feeling to see the child, the adolescent, the man or the woman lost in Nature wrestling with the Darkness that lurks inside each one of us. A group of youths typical of the city outskirts, the type that instil fear in those who live either in the city centre or the countryside, are lost among trees in winter. The snow is white, their manner dubious. What are they doing? Are they playing? Are they bored? Are they just lazing around? Whatever the situation, their being “lost” might stimulate a violent reaction. Like the image of this head resting on a snow-covered rock, ready to be decapitated, suggests so strongly. The scene is biblical yet at the same time staunchly contemporary. The stare of the martyr pierces us so powerfully that it makes us want to look away. His expressive gaze confirms the seriousness of a game that might get out of hand at any moment.
