This project, devised by the artist in accordance with the configuration of the gallery, occupies its two rooms, and brings out one of the central issues of this oeuvre, the medium. The period in the early 1990s during which Bernard Borgeaud started to produce monumental drawings, then, in the following decade, posit the premises of the pictorial work whose very latest developments we are discovering today, corresponds to the age of the digital revolution. Bernard Borgeaud does not call himself a painter any more than he has called himself a draughtsman, photographer or “installer”, at an actual moment when artists were talking more, or so it seems to me, about activities. His career can be compared to other major personalities followed by the gallery since its creation, almost 25 years ago, people who appropriate a medium simply because it seems to them to be the one best suited to the development of their way of thinking.
