By his own definition, “a border is a space of variable width, from the imaginary line to a specific space, separating or joining two territories…” Be it geopolitical, physical or symbolic, the border dictates our relation to our identity, to the here and elsewhere, and to the other. Many artists go along them, probe them and sample them. They reveal how these spaces are at once sources of passages, fantasies, coercions, paradoxes and representations. No matter how official and concrete they may be, borders open up questions about our private and political zones, much more blurred than might appear.
