Semaine 43.12

le nom d’une île
Maison des arts
de Malakoff

The exhibition could be titled The Name of an Island, where everyone would have the right power, also to archive the bodies, reinvented to become elastic through the freedom found in drawing – on paper, or on walls in Rome, Shantiniketan, Malakoff, Conakry, back home or in situ. The word “grottesque” was a pass code for gaining entry to the Villa Medicis, and “personality” always an effective key word for figures creating scenes, militant figures, openly displaying their joy of living, their free behaviour, the space thus distended by those, scattered, condensed, who have often danced before becoming set.
From 2007, there was something new: it became necessary to draw words, words among the figures, a single word, an autobiographical word that has its colouring as both purpose and means, the taste of a padded title with a psychedelic thicknes. Béatrice Cussol, 2012
